Hi! My name is Alain Fassotte, and I’m a man doing my best to follow Jesus.
I’m a husband, father, priest, preacher, writer, speaker, and author. In 2020, I wrote the book Running Down the Mountain Together with God.

I’m married to Cecilie, and together we have three amazing children. We live in Våland, Stavanger. Starting in April 2025, I’ll be serving as a Seamen’s Senior Pastor in San Francisco, with my wife beside me as a deaconal co-worker. Alongside that, I continue to write, teach, preach, and speak. In short, I’m always trying to go wherever God leads :)

This blog was born out of a dream — a longing to touch people’s lives with the gospel of God through stories from real life. You might call it a kind of experience-based faith journey. I believe that in today’s world, more and more people are searching for a deeper meaning in life. I’ve found that meaning, and I believe it is found in Jesus Christ.

I’ll also be sharing about our life and ministry in San Francisco — what we experience, and what we see God doing in the church and in our lives. Cecilie and I have experienced firsthand that God provides for us and has shown us His incredible love. That’s why our deepest desire is to point people toward Him.

God chose to give me the greatest gift of all: a glimpse of how He sees us — His beloved people — and a calling to serve as a priest in the Church of Norway.

Through this blog, I’ve found that readers appreciate the personal stories of faith, reflections, and experiences I share. I’ve also come to realize that there are many searching souls out there, and if anything I write can help someone take even one small step closer to Him, then I’m a happy man.

So what does a 48-year-old white, Christian, privileged man — born in one of the richest and happiest countries in the world — have to write about?
Maybe about the things that aren’t so superficial or immediate, but still deeply important. At least to me. About how faith and God don’t have to be complicated. That your relationship with God is between you and Him — and yet, He invites you to share your faith journey within a community.

I want to write about the things that help us become more aware of how we treat ourselves and one another — the things that shape us as human beings. Because I truly believe that reflecting on faith can make me a better person, father, and friend.

The best part of all this is that you, the reader, are free to take it for what it is — simply my own thoughts and reflections. Feel free to follow along if you find it interesting. I enjoy honest, thoughtful discussion.
